Roberto De Ocampo

Roberto de Ocampo is a Partner and Founding Partner of the Centennial Group and Chairman of Centennial Asia Advisors. Mr. de Ocampo has 40 years’ experience in development finance in various capacities with Philippine Government agencies and with multilateral development financing institutions. He was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) in 1989-1994.

During his term, he established several groundbreaking initiatives such as the Private Sector Infrastructure Development Fund to finance Build-Operate-Transfer projects, the issuance of DBP Eurobonds, the issuance the country’s first municipal bonds, and the launch of Philippines Strategic Holdings, a first-of-its-kind Philippine equity fund. As Finance Minister of the Philippines (1994-98), Mr. de Ocampo, was the de facto architect of the Philippines’ economic revival in the mid-1990s. He served as the President of the Asian Institute of Management for six years. He has served as a member of the Board of Governors of both the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank; Alternate Governor of the International Monetary Fund; Chairman of the APEC Finance Ministers and of the ASEAN Finance Ministers, and Chairman of various Philippine Government financial institutions and high-level councils and committees, including the Committee on Privatization, the Fiscal Incentives Review Board, the Investment Coordinating Committee, the Joint Legislative-Executive Foreign Debt Council, and the Task Force on Tax Reforms.

Mr. de Ocampo holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, a Fellowship in Developmental Administration from the London School of Economics, and honorary doctorate degrees in Business Administration, Public Administration, and Law from several Philippine universities. He is based in Manila.
