Boden 2012: Argentina celebrates local debt repayment as the economy sinks
“Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is celebrating the last debt service payment of a dollar-denominated bond known as the Boden 2012, for $2.2 billion on Friday, August 3. The bonds had been issued a decade earlier to Argentine depositors and to local banks, after the default on the public debt and the devaluation of the currency in 2001-2. The President has noted that this represents a process of liberation for the country, and reflects Argentina’s good intentions toward its (domestic) creditors.”
