Xavier Nogales

Xavier Nogales is a Founding Director of Centennial Latin America. During his career he held many positions, including senior Word Bank officer, Governor of the Central Bank of Bolivia, Minister of Economy and Head of Bolivia´s Economic Team, and Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons. He has worked as an international consultant to the economic teams of several Latin American countries, including Perú, Colombia, El Salvador and has worked closely with the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Latin American Development Bank (CAF). He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Development Policies at Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá. He is a chemical engineer from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, received his Master’s Degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and obtained post-graduate degrees in Management of Petroleum and Petrochemical Enterprises in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has published five books describing and analyzing his government’s experience in monetary and macroeconomic management, financial institutions development, the hydrocarbon sector development, and public housing construction in developing countries. Mr. Nogales is currently based in Bogotá.
